What Is This?

It’s a little crazy that a blog so new and so unseen can have a story, but here goes. I’ll try to keep it short.

Like anyone my age, I go through random, “you’re great, life is great, get it together!!” binges. During one of those about a year ago I started this blog. I rushed together looks, hired a photographer, and got up and running before I had a single freaking clue what I was doing.  Since that I point, I re-did the layout about 7 times, renamed it, posted and deleted several Instagrams, lost my consistency (the number of posts starting with “I’m back!” were bordering humorous), nearly deleted the whole thing a few times, finally found a layout I liked, ran out of money for more photos and basically forgot about it all for a few months.

That’s pretty much the gist. The biggest problem with the whole thing though, really, was the lack of voice and passion in all the content I put out. I didn’t have the time or money to post professional photos of my looks every week, or the work ethic for thorough well-written fashion posts, or the lifestyle to make the classic, “don’t you wish you were me?” blog. No focus means no passion which means no relatable voice, which makes for a mediocre content. Simple as that.

I'm calling the blog Cursive Culture, the original name, because I think it encompasses what I love about fashion in life - when it's fun, natural, and effortlessly in sync with the life you lead, it can enhance everything and give you a creative outlet that you can wear on your body every day. When you reach that place, you want to share are thoughts with like minded people.

The kicker is now, as I’m writing this, I still don’t know what I’m doing. All I know is I’m going put out only content I’m proud of, that’s fashion-related, and that can hopefully do something for other people. Unfortunately for you all, I’m way less funny in text than in person (no really ask anyone), but if anything, this blog will be fuel for my fashion obsession and a documentation of the journey within it.

xx,

Jess
